West Brom shocks its way to fourth place on Matchday 11

The English Premier League experienced an action-packed weekend, with the highlight being West Bromwich Albion's shock defeat of Chelsea, which helped the Black Country side into fourth place, with hopes of qualifying for Europe.

A goal from Peter Odemwingie in the 50th minute helped the Baggies to the surprising victory, which catapulted the side into the heart of the Champions League qualification race. The loss prevented Chelsea from gaining ground in the title race, and the club is now four points off pace.

Arsenal also made its case for fourth, as the North London side defeated rivals Tottenham Hotspur 5-2 at Emirates Stadium. Emmanuel Adebayor gave Spurs an early lead, but after his red card in the first half, Arsenal opened the floodgates, scoring four unanswered goals.

Manchester United was shocked this weekend, as the club lost 1-0 to Norwich City at Carrow Road. A goal from Anthony Pilkington at the hour mark gave the Canaries the surprise win. Manchester City took advantage of Chelsea's and United's poor performances by thrashing Aston Villa 5-0. This put the Sky Blues to the top of the table, one point higher than their city rivals.

Many matches, but no clearer picture in the table
Liverpool managed to continue its solid form, as the club easily handled Wigan by a score of 3-0. Luis Suarez's brace helped bring the North West side closer to midtable. However, the blue side of Liverpool did not fare as well, as Everton fell 2-1 to Reading at Madejski Stadium.

The relegation battle didn't get any less complicated, as Southampton defeated Queens Park Rangers 3-1. This left QPR at the bottom of the table, while Aston Villa, Southampton and Reading are all one point apart.

Sunderland prevented Fulham from climbing into Europe qualification contention, as the Black Cats scored three at Craven Cottage for a 3-1 victory.
