Today we are announcing that our new minimum sending amount to the Philippines is $50 and that we are only accepting United States bank accounts, and United States credit cards or debit cards for sending money to the Philippines.

Our New Minimum Send Amount to the Philippines is now $50

Xoom has increased the minimum send amount for transactions sent to the Philippines to $50. At Xoom, our core business is money transfer for friends and family remittances. Transactions less than $50 are mostly sent for commercial purposes which are not in our core business. Commercial transactions can be risky for our customers, as merchants sometimes can be unprofessional or at times even fraudulent.

To protect the interests of our customers, we thought it best to simply prohibit these transactions from our system in the first place. If you were sending a remittance to friends and family for less than $50, we apologize if this decision has inconvenienced you.

Changes to Payment Sources for Money Transfers to the Philippines

Most transactions funded by non-US credit cards are for commercial purposes which are not in our core family remittance business. Commercial transactions can be risky for our customers as merchants sometimes can be unprofessional or at times even fraudulent.

For US residents, Xoom now accepts only Unites States bank accounts or United States credit or debit cards as payment sources for money transfers. For non-US residents, Xoom now accepts United States credit or debit cards as payment sources for money transfers.

To protect the interests of our customers, we thought it best to simply prohibit these transactions from our system in the first place. If you were sending a remittance to friends and family funded with a non-US credit card, we sincerely, apologize if this decision has inconvenienced you.
