Xoom Upgrades Mobile Money Transfer App to Enable Full Sending Experience

all_mobile_app_0512_2014

With $1.5 billion in mobile volume processed in the past 12 months, Xoom is poised for further growth.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, May 13, 2014 – Xoom Corporation (NASDAQ: XOOM), a leading digital money transfer provider, today announced a major upgrade to the Xoom App that allows Xoom customers to sign up and send money from their mobile devices to friends and family members instantly at the outset, not only to existing recipients.

Since its launch in June 2013, Xoom repeat customers have been using the Xoom App to send money to their existing recipients. Now, in a few simple steps, Xoom’s new App release allows money senders to sign up and send money to someone new for the first time — in addition to any existing recipients – using iOS or Android mobile devices. To send to new recipients, users provide information about how much to send, recipient details and method of payment and then the money is on its way.

Repeat Xoom customers continue to enjoy the Xoom App for best-in-class mobile money transfer. The Xoom App is unique in its simplicity, allowing Xoom customers to complete a “Quick Send” in seconds to their existing recipients in a novel “one tap and one swipe” technique.

In the 12 months ending March 31, 2014, Xoom processed $1.5 billion in mobile volume and in Q1-2014, 45 percent of Xoom transactions were sent via mobile devices.

“The App upgrade presents a tremendous opportunity for Xoom,” said Joe Raymond, Xoom’s Vice President of Product. “In keeping with our mission of creating a seamless customer experience across our platform, our upgrade will make it faster and easier for new users to send money for the first time directly from the Xoom App, a major step forward for our mobile offering. We believe this enhanced customer experience will make it even easier for new users to send money to friends and family.”

Xoom offers customers a Spanish-language experience on its App, desktop and mobile sites and via Xoom’s 24-hour customer care center.  In addition to fast and simple money transfers on-the-go, Xoom customers can use the App to track the status of their money transfer as their money moves to their loved ones.  Other key features of the Xoom App include the ability to review Xoom’s low fees, check exchange rates, contact customer service and access links to other Xoom services.

The Xoom App is available at the Apple AppStore and Google Play.

Pony,” “Confusion” and “Piece of Paper” join Xoom’s Award-winning Latin American Advertising Lineup

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, January 27, 2014 – Xoom Corporation (NASDAQ: XOOM), a leading digital money transfer provider, has introduced three new television commercials for the U.S. Hispanic market.  The ads began airing this month and all speak to the message of mobile convenience.

The first commercial, entitled “Pony,” shows Oscar at a child’s birthday party that offers a pony ride. When his mom calls saying she needs money right away, Oscar desperately tries to get to a store to transfer money by jumping on the pony. He rushes to the store, only to find it closed, while his wife, Olivia, conveniently sends money from her mobile phone with one swipe of her finger.  “Pony” can be viewed on Youtube.

The next two spots, “Confusion” and “Piece of Paper,” promote Xoom’s innovative text message service for the recipient.  Xoom will send a text message, free of charge, to the recipient with the transaction PIN number, so that the recipient has fast and easy access to their money without the risk of miscommunication and error.

“Confusion,” features Oscar, on the phone with his mother, unsuccessfully trying to recite a long transaction number over the phone that she needs to pick up money.  The bad phone connection makes communicating the number clearly a challenge. His wife, Olivia, reminds him by shouting from the kitchen, “Next time, use Xoom.com. They will send the PIN directly to her phone.” “Confusion”ad can be viewed on Youtube.

In “Piece of Paper,” the wind blows away Oscar’s piece of paper with the PIN number on it and he finds himself chasing after the dog that captured the paper.  The spot humorously shows the inconvenience of having the PIN on a piece of paper that can easily get lost or misplaced. “Piece of Paper” ad can be viewed on Youtube.

“With these three new spots, we demonstrate the convenience of sending money with Xoom.com on a mobile phone and how it can save you time,” says Julian King, Xoom’s Senior Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Development.  “The commercials deliver the message of mobile convenience with likeable characters in a way that resonates with customers.  Using Xoom.com is magical and transformative.  It offers senders an experience that is convenient, fast, safe, fairly priced and it frees them up to do other important things in their life.”

“The Xoom ‘Better Way’ campaign launched in November 2011 and there have been more than a dozen commercials produced for this campaign in the last two years,” King added.

In fall, 2012, Xoom won the gold from the ANA Multicultural Excellence Awards for “Save the Pigs,” as best campaign developed to reach Hispanic consumers.

“Pony,” “Confusion” and “Piece of Paper” are the latest television ads from Xoom targeting the Spanish-language audience.  The commercials are currently running on major Spanish-language television.
